Check out our EASY & Delicious Homemade Pizza Recipe –it’s perfect for your next Family Movie & Pizza Night. (= www.ShenaLeonard.com: Messy Table, Creative House

We LOVE to make pizza at our house (especially if we’re having a Family Movie Night) and with this easy Pizza Dough Recipe it doesn’t even take too long to make.  Often times I’ll mix up a batch of pizza dough and turn it into 4 mini pizzas so everyone in the family can make their own. (The 4 mini pizzas in the photo above were all made from one batch of Pizza Dough)

My favorite pizza is what we call a “Cheese Wheel” in our house – it brings back memories from when I was a kid and we went to the local pizza shop to eat their specialty Cheese Wheels and play Pac Man. (= The Cheese Wheel is basically crust, butter, cheese and garlic salt cooked until it’s toasty brown and then dipped in taco sauce. This is also good with a bunch of veggies on it.

The boys like to fill their pizzas with meat, veggies and sautéed mushrooms, so by doing the four mini pizzas we all get something we like. (=

Here’s the recipe we use to make delicious & easy pizza dough:

Pizza Dough

1  package active dry yeast
1  cup warm water (110-115 degrees)
1  teaspoon sugar
1  teaspoon salt
2  tablespoons oil
2 ½  cups flour

Step 1. Dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar, salt, oil and flour and mix together. Beat for 1 minute, until dough forms a ball.

Step 2.Let dough rest for 5 minutes.

Cheese Wheel

1 tablespoon soft butter
1 teaspoon garlic salt
Shredded cheddar cheese
Shredded mozzarella cheese

Taco Sauce
Step 1. Make a batch of Pizza Dough (see recipe above).  Form dough into a pizza crust and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet or pizza pan.

Step 2. Mix soft butter and ½ teaspoon of the garlic salt together. Spread mixture over the pizza dough, leaving the outer 1 inch uncovered. Cover the pizza with shredded cheese and sprinkle the remaining ½ teaspoon of garlic salt over the cheese.

Step 3. Bake in a 425 degree oven for 20-25 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden brown. Serve with a side of Taco sauce for dipping.

Shredded mozzarella cheese

Step 1. Mix up a batch of Pizza Dough (see recipe abve).

Step 2.While the Pizza Dough rests, Mix all Pizza Sauce ingredients together. Bring sauce ingredients to low boil and simmer for a few minutes. Remove from heat.

Step 3. Form dough into a pizza crust and place on a lightly greased cookie sheet or pizza pan.

Step 4. Spread a light layer of pizza sauce over the pizza dough, leaving the outer 1 inch uncovered. Cover the pizza with a layer of Canadian bacon, red pepper and shredded cheeses. (Feel free to change toppings to your taste.)

Step 5. Bake in a 425 degree oven for 20-25 minutes, until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Note: I copied the Pizza Sauce recipe above from one of my mother-in-law’s old cookbooks over 15 years ago, so I don’t know who to credit for the recipe. It’s good though! (=

Do you think I could substitute almond flour for the white flour in the pizza dough???

    • Anonymous June 13, 2015 at 10:49 pm Reply

I’ve substituted spelt (and added a tad more liquid) before, but I’ve never tried almond flour. Sorry!
What do you usually do for almond flour substitutions? Does it require a bit more (or less) liquid usually?
If you try, I’d love to hear how it works out! (=
      Have a fun weekend!
